FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) comes to the small Washington town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Cooper is convinced of a link between Palmer's murder and that of Theresa Banks, who died a year earlier. While Laura's father (Ray Wise) and mother (Grace Zabriskie) mourn, Cooper begins his investigation with the help of Sheriff Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean), coming up against the town's many secrets and quirky residents in the process.
